Huck finishes his first board in style.
Huck has just finished his first wooden board , a 6'8" retro fish that came out at 17.75lb completed. He has created his own construction method and gone about things a little differently to others. But ended up with a great looking board.Nice tidy build job and great finish. Well done.

Wooden SUP from Texas
Big California swell brings out the best in the Simmons
Richard Kenvin winding her up to get in early , just as Bob had planned...
John Cherry sent me these great shots of Richard Kenvin letting the big 10ft Simmons do what it was made for. It's the 10ft reproduction board that JC and Terry Martin built a few years ago. Richard has some footage of Rasta riding it in his under production movie "Hydrodynamica.
Here is what JC has to say...
"I loaned Terry’s and my Simmons to RK about 3 weeks ago so he could ride it and do some filming.
These La Jolla Cove xxx waves were exactly what the Simmons was originally designed to ride. I don’t know anybody better to put her through her paces than RK .
It wasn’t the greatest angle on the cove shots, but I LOVE the take-off shot. It shows the Simmons ability to get in early and get headed a warp speed down the line.
Terry and I built the Simmons to ride, enjoy and share with the surf community.
RK says the Simm is absolutely an amazing board to ride. I’m Stoked!! "
Thanks guys for sharing and having made the board that has now created all this interest in the Simmons and Mini Simmons.I know there are a lot more of them being built this summer here in Aust.

Glass Tiger surfboards from Falmouth , Cornwall in the UK are passionate about his wooden boards
I have just come across Glass Tiger and if you are into wooden boards then you should check out what Mark Roberts is building.
" I shape because I love surfing and I love to innovate and make stuff, things have changed a bit over the last few years with more and more boards being made in the far east by people who don't surf, as far as I can see this is unsustainable because there is no innovation going on, with no surfer shaper moments of inspiration, there is a link in the chain that's missing.I love making boards other people love, and making boards from wood just makes my job easier, because its easy to feel happy when your riding something that was grown and whittled rather than processed from chemicals and petro chemical by-products."

Great new board just finished by Rick Malwitz in Brooklyn New York.
This board is off to the surf in Texas from New York. Sounds all a little crazy to me living on the Gold Coast. Just shows there are people all over from all walks of life building wooden boards. Great to see .Check out Ricks blog and website for more pics of the construction and finishing.
