The third edition of the European Wooden Surfboard Day is on! 30th-31st August, Playa de Berria, Cantabria, Spain.

After two amazing editions we need more! Let’s go for another Wooden Meet 2019. We want to see your progresses and new projects, we want to share our knowledge's towards a cleaner and more responsible way of building surfboards. As master Grant Newby stated during last year’s edition, “there’s been more thinking today on this beach than in the whole surfboard industry in the last year”. And that’s what the spirit of this splinter group is all about. Let’s do it again!

Sergi builds beautiful boards and here he is with a big wave gun that has been well and truly test in some massive waves in Europe and New Zealand. These are his two daughters with boards their dad built and they painted. Jackie and I had a great time at the European wooden board day last year and met some great passionate people. They are so conscious of the environment over there and looking at sustainable options is a big deal.

Grain Surfboards - Forest to Ocean

As a society, we are becoming increasingly disconnected from our forests. With nearly 8 billion people in the world - half of which live in cities – we're not just becoming physically disconnected but disconnected from the benefits and solutions they provide us every day.

A wooden surfboard isn't going to solve this, but it serves as a powerful reminder that we always have a choice. And that natural, renewable, and sustainable solutions are always the best solutions.
Hand built using locally grown wood from sustainably managed forests in Maine, Grain Surfboards is not just creating a product for profit. They're creating a product that has a soul, tells a story, and provides a powerful connection spanning forests and ocean. They're creating a product that is not only doing right by surfers, but right by our environment, and by our forests.

Grain Surfboards has a great story to tell, and we were lucky enough to capture it.
