Bruce Russell just sent me these shots of a board he has as he wants to find out more about the board, with a view to selling it. So if you know anything about boards of this era and who may have built it you may like to let Bruce know. He is on the Sunshine Coast Qld.

Back to the woods in the Philipines again
Chris Gonzaga has just sent me this update on their latest board building get together and community gathering on Skull Island.
" Hi Grant, we have done it again! back to the woods in skull island went off well. This time was something different, we had the workshop, a medical mission and ambitiously we had a new house/work shed built on the island. This house will be a venue for building, testing and developing wooden surfboards. at the end of the build it became more clear to us that back to the woods is not just a workshop or a gathering of like minded individuals but more of like a personal reminder. A reminder for us to give back and live a simple life."
I love what these guys have done with little resources but lots of drive and passion as a group.
Check out the following images that more than tell their story. Love to join them one time.

The 7th Annual Wooden Surfboard Day
This years wooden surfboard day went off well. The weather was about 25c and the wind was from the North West all day so the surf was not worth looking at. But it was warm and clear and people were out and about. A great crew of regular board builders and lots of new faces as well. Maybe not as many boards as in the past but a steady stream of very interested onlookers with lots of questions.
Most are blown away that we share all our ideas and the help each other out by sharing our knowledge and experiences with each other. And why not. We encourage each other and support each other to experiment and have a go. We have mutual repect for each other as there is no easy way of building a wooden board. But there is no better feeling of surfing on something you have crafted yourself. Thanks to all who came and made the day what it was. Thanks to Stone a Wood for the nice cold beers at the end of the day. They were much appreciated by all.
